Direct Care Volunteers include Patient Care and Complementary Care Both attend a comprehensive training for their roles helping patients and families in private homes or nursing and residential facilities.View upcoming training dates in Marin, San Francisco and Sonoma counties listed on our Community Event Calendar.
Patient Care: Part of the Hospice care team, they visit patients' homes to offer companionship, relief time for caregivers, help with errands, transportation to appointments or grocery shopping.
Complementary Care: Certified or specially trained practitioners use their skills to nurture the physical and emotional well-being of a patient. Previous experience with chronic illness, cancer patients or the elderly is required. Must possess appropriate certification and previous training:
gentle massage
energy work
animal-assisted activity
therapeutic music activity
Organization Support Volunteers also serve our mission Training for these positions is ongoing.
Administrative & Office Support Provide general office skills and support, such as filing, clerical and computer input. (Larkspur office)
Receptionists Greet and direct visitors at our reception areas. (Larkspur office)
Bookstore/Thrift Stores Help staff our thrift stores San Rafael and Novato, or used book store in Corte Madera, by serving customers, decorating and organizing merchandise.
Event Volunteers Help organize and/or staff fundraising and other events throughout the year.
Special Projects Needed during various times of the year, such as our Marin gift wrap fundraiser each December Sew stuffed animals for grieving children as part of our Comfort Bear Project Support greiving kids at Camp Erin™Oakland/Bay Area, our annual grief support weekend for ages 6-17
