Palliative Care

Currently available for any patient of Marin General Hospital and Novato Community Hospital

Also called “comfort care,” our palliative care offers a team approach to holistic care. The Team helps prevent, relieve, reduce or ease symptoms of a disease or serious condition. Patients and their families benefit from our practical, emotional and spiritual comfort. Care can start soon after the diagnosis of an illness that causes distressing symptoms or repeated emergency room visits that can reduce quality of life.

Unlike hospice care, our palliative care patients can start or continue curative treatments, such as radiation or blood transfusions. Our Team will discuss treatment options with patients and their families, giving them the information needed to make informed decisions about their treatment choices.
